Lors du repêchage de 2022 au Centre Bell à Montréal, le Canadien a choisi Lane Hutson, un petit défenseur offensif, 62e au total.
Depuis, Hutson impressionne, surmontant les doutes.
Sa taille modeste, 5’7″/147lbs, a fait hésiter les équipes.
Il avait une condition médicale retardant sa croissance.
L’ex-recruteur des Predators, Kyle Woodlief, a affirmé ceci sur le podcast de Tony Marinaro :
« Si Lane Hutson avait été deux pouces plus grand et vingt livres plus lourd au repêchage, il aurait été sélectionné Top-3. » – Kyle Woodlief
Il fait maintenant 5’10 » et pèse 160 livres. Comme on peut voir sur cette photo, il semble très près de Celebrini, qui lui, mesure 6’0:
